ICT solutions for older adults

Europeans are getting older. According to Central Statistical Office data, in 2050, up to 40% of Polish residents will be aged 60 plus. Aging affects physical fitness, cognitive processes and psychological and social functioning. At the same time, the world becomes more and more digital and modern technologies are entering virtually all life areas. Consequently, specialists in technical and social sciences become increasingly interested in how older people perceive and use modern technologies.

On the one hand, it is examined how existing solutions can be tailored to the seniors’ needs and popularized in this group. On the other hand, various solutions are developed specifically for seniors. They are aimed at alleviating the difficulties associated with aging and harnessing the full potential of older adults.

The project “ICT solutions for older adults” concentrates on analyzing the behavior of older adults during ICT related activities such as designing software or using mobile technologies. We investigate the psychological and social factors influencing the motivations and the efficiency of using modern technologies by older people. We take into account their personality traits, stereotypes, the user’s direct social context etc.
