A platform for graduates, universities and employers

Graduates not meeting the needs of the labor market are a problem faced by the state authorities, universities and businesses. In our Laboratory of Intelligent Systems, we are working on creating an online platform that will help collect and structure data relevant to labour market on these three circles.

PI Platform is a portal consisting of several modules, intended respectively for graduates, universities and employers:

  • It will help university candidates to choose the optimal institution of higher education and become better acquainted with its profile (departments, faculties and specialisations),
  • It will make it easier for graduates to connect with fellow alumni and employers through the possibility of publishing a CV on the Platform,
  • It will assist universities in adapting the educational offer to the needs of the labour market,

Thanks to it, employers will be able to find employees among the graduates and select the projects to be implemented in the business environment from among the graded credit works prepared by students.

At the invitation of the university, graduates complete the questionnaire. PI Platform processes the information using the latest software solutions and information technology, such as machine learning and natural language processing. This will allow to know the professional careers of those graduating in a given field. PI Platform will also analyze data collected from reports of employment agencies, Central Statistical Office and other centres of market research. They will serve, along with the information from the questionnaires, to assist decision makers in decisions concerning education that better meet the needs of the economy.

PI Platform is prepared for MillwardBrown company, which, together with the Academy of Personnel Management (Project Leader) received funding from the National Centre for Research and Development for an innovative project entitled “PI – time for change – e- platform as a tool for universities to adapt their educational offer to the needs of the labour market”. OPI creates the web-based platform and econometric models for the project.

The entire project is funded by the Human Capital Operational Programme of the European Social Fund.

This week, all consortium members presented the project to the evaluation commission. All experts of OP Human Capital Thematic Networks approved the strategy, and thus work on the project will continue. Over the next months, the system will be tested. Subsequently, other innovative modules will be introduced, such as analysis of graduates’ sentiments towards the studies they completed, or detection of patterns in the questionnaires and CVs of the graduates.
